Data Analytics

A brief overview of the available CDM Report analytics products for operators to use when additional data is needed to make Go / No Go decisions.

Plots and Trend Data

The 2D Plots tab allows operators to analyze and compare multiple data products, including timeseries data, risk metric sensitivities, and conjunction geometries. View the details of a single plot, or switch the layout to compare two plots at the same time. The plot selection list includes the latest trend data, highlighting the change in value from the previous CDM Report value for each metric.

Timeseries data

The following timeseries plots are available:

  • Probability of collision (Pc)
  • Miss Distance (MD), Total
  • Miss Distance (MD), Radial, In-track, Cross-track
  • Time of Closest Approach (TCA)

Sensitivity data

Sensitivity plots detail how sensitive a risk metric is to changing specific inputs.

The Dilution region plot is a measure of the Pc sensitivity to covariance size. If the covariance is very large, the Pc risk value may be smaller (i.e. "diluted") than the true risk value.

Similarly, the HBR sensitivity plot is a measure of the Pc sensitivity to the asset's combined HBR value. If either asset's HBR is incorrect, the Pc may be larger or smaller than the value in the CDM.

Conjunction geometry data

Many aspects of a conjunction are dependent on specific conjunction geometries, including long period vs kinetic encounters.

The Angle of Approach plot displays the angle between the primary and secondary RSO velocities, and the angle between the relative velocity and the primary RSO.

The B-plane plot displays the conjunction plane normal to the relative velocity vector, with the combined HBR placed at the position of the primary relative to the secondary position at origin. If a maneuver has been selected from the Mitigation component, pre- and post-maneuver B-planes will be available for comparison.

Orbit Visualization

Operators may prefer a visual representation of the conjunction. The Orbit tab will display the two RSO's orbits as either a 3D render or a 2D ground tracks visualization. The timeline of RSO interaction can be played back and forth at multiple speeds if desired. The orbit visualization also displays:

  • Conjunction geometry values
  • Keplerian elements calculated at TCA
  • Primary and secondary RSOs with 1σ covariance ellipses
